VJ75 – Anniversary Ale
The 15th of August 2020, is the 75th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan) commemorating the end of the Second World War. To mark this occasion, we have created a unique beer drawing inspiration from the countries involved.
VJ75 Anniversary Ale, a light red ale with lemon, blackcurrant and kiwi-esque flavours, has been developed and brewed by Ed Clarke, son of James Clarke, the sixth generation of brewers at Hook Norton with his first solo recipe and brew.
The different hop varieties used pay homage to some of the countries involved in the conflict. Admiral – United Kingdom, Sorachi Ace – Japan, US Cascade – America , Marynka – Poland, Tettnanger – Germany, Mistral – France, Nelson Sauvin – New Zealand and Summer – Australia.
These combine to give aromas of dark berries and floral notes raising the flag for this important anniversary.
