Van Delivery Driver
Due to increasing demand we are looking to recruit a full time brewery van driver to our distribution team reporting to the Transport Manager.
The Role
- Load the van with kegs and boxes of our beers and distribute these to our trade customers within a 50 mile radius of the brewery.
- Ensure the product is delivered safely and responsibly to where our customers need it. This can often involve taking barrels down stairs, into cellars and over some short distances. Rope, trolley, and other equipment will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Organising the daily delivery route from the paperwork provided
- Liaising with other departments such as Sales on a daily basis to ensure correct information is relayed, to allow for all orders to be delivered on time and in full.
- Delivering beer to pubs, bars, shops and other venues
- Completing daily paperwork
- Handling some cash and cheques from customers
- Refuelling van, checking tyre pressure and oil etc
- Supporting Warehouse and Fulfilment team on site
About You
- You are someone who can drive and deliver our beer efficiently and professionally
- You also need to have good attention to detail, be organised and be able to react positively to customers and company needs.
- This role will require lifting kegs and weighted goods up to 30-50kgs on and off the van and into customer premises, which will include cellars and stairs.
Hours
Monday – Friday – 7am – 4.00pm (Hours may vary depending on demand)

Pub Manager – The Pear Tree, Hook Norton
The chocolate box pub of Hook Norton Brewery. Purchased in 1869 by John Harris, the first pub in our tied estate. The original pear tree still grows in the front of the public house, welcoming guests to this characterful watering hole. A lot has changed since 1869, but this charming little converted cottage at the end of Brewery Lane still prides itself on top quality ales, stouts and ciders, alongside other more modern day classics.
If you’ve got hospitality, leisure, or retail experience in a supervisory position then we’d love to hear from you! The Manager role is key to our success. We are looking for someone who is passionate about us as well as our guests.
Day to day you will ensure the running of all departments, directing the team to ensure all jobs are complete to the set standard, ensuring a top quality experience for our guests throughout their customer journey.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Operations manager in the day to day running of the business, ensuring compliance with licencing, hygiene, and health and safety.
- Key holder roles including opening and closing of the business, daily and weekly cash reconciliation, ensuring that all areas are secure, and closedown tasks are completed to a satisfactory standard.
- Ensure that due diligence is completed, and that all areas comply with Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Food Safety standards.
- Completing daily and monthly stock checks, ensuring that any discrepancies are accounted for, and stock rotated as necessary
- Ensure that appropriate beer levels are kept, with all core beers and at least one seasonal ale, and any orders are placed in a timely manner.
- Complete weekly rotas at least two weeks in advance, ensuring that appropriate staffing is allowed during peak periods.
- Ensuring that there is an ‘On Call’ team member on site at all times outside normal business hours.
- Handling customer enquiries via email and phone, and resolving any customer complaints.
- Making improvements to the running of the business.
- Delegation of daily tasks to team members.
- Leading the training of new team members, and coaching and motivation of existing staff to reach high standards of service.
- Ensuring that all colleagues are wearing white shirt, black trousers and appropriate Hook Norton Brewery branded clothing depending on season.
- Being an ambassador for Hook Norton Brewery by presenting a professional appearance and attitude, and setting a great example to the rest of the team.
- Organising appropriate food vans every Saturday, and other peak events..
- Controlling maintenance of pub, accommodation, and garden areas, reporting any major issues to the operations manager.
- Promote the business and events through Social Media, and communicate with the Marketing Team to create any relevant POS.
What we are looking for:
- At least 18 months experience in a supervisory role
- Someone to lead the team from the front, not the office.
- Bar & Kitchen Experience
- Hospitality, leisure & retail experience
- Passionate about great service
- Great eye for detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- Skilled in organising and planning
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- An understanding of what amazing guest service looks like
